Corporations

If you’re looking to defraud, delude, double-cross, dupe, embezzle, fleece, gouge, hoodwink, hornswaggle, mislead, mug, rig, rip-off, sandbag, scam, screw, shaft, shortchange, snooker, or just plain sucker the public in the Grand American Tradition, you’ve got to have a corporation.

About jeneanecommonplacebook

What Is a Commonplace Book? A commonplace book is someone’s personal collection of quotes, witticisms, observances, poems, and even graffiti that have inspired them, made them laugh or touched them in some way. Many famous people throughout history have had commonplace books, such as Thomas Jefferson, John Milton, Mark Twain, Henry David Thoreau, and the scientist, Carl Linnaeus. I began my commonplace books while I was in junior high school in the early 1970’s and so I have almost 50 years of quotes about such a wide variety of topics told in ways more eloquent, wise or humorous than anything I could ever come up with. And it’s wonderful that in this type of blog, I can also include some of my favorite artists and their artwork as well. I'm almost 60 years old with a daughter, 3 granddaughters, and a kitty-cat. I live in beautiful Bay City, MI. I have 2 associate degrees with additional college credits and hopefully I will be able to complete my goal of obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. (Life keeps getting in the way). I enjoy literature, horse racing, baseball, NFL football, The Olympics, astronomy, history (particularly Irish), art, old movies, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, Unit One, science, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, U2, The Doors, oh and so much more! I have very eclectic and prolific interests. If you would like to check out my personal writings, please go to jeneanebehmeswritings.wordpress.com

  1. It is so sad that this is so true…and just about every American would read this, nod their head and say, “Yup, that is the truth”. Since Ronald Reagan’s presidency in the early 1980’s, the adoration and glorification of American corporations by themselves and for themselves, with the unfortunate approval and help of the Republican party, has only grown worse and worse and worse.

Corporations, and their corporate executives and board members, have only one mindset: greedy profits, no matter who gets run over, thrown aside, or kicked around to achieve those greedy profits.

The 2008 world-wide financial meltdown was perpetrated by that corporate mindset and the whole world is still dealing with the repercussions…and yet the “criminals” who contributed to that mess have only been given mild slaps on their wrists.

Our American politics are being sold to the highest bidder with the deepest pockets. Americans’ wages have not kept up with inflation since Reagan’s presidency, yet corporate executives’ incomes have increased over 2,000% since then.

And the insane thing is that people are not voting in the few candidates who want to truly stop this insanity. The numbers of registered voters actually voting continue to decline because people are so disgusted that their vote doesn’t seem to matter since things don’t change. Sigh!
